Baha'a Armouti is the founding and managing partner of Armouti & Associates. A Jordanian licensed lawyer with over 18 years experience of commercial law practice in Jordan and the region, with extensive experience in WTO, trade remedies, anti-trust and corporate regulation. Baha'a is a Board Member of the Jordanian Military Credit Fund and the Jordanian Cement Producers' Association. His practice stretches into Egypt, as well as the UAE and the other Gulf Coast Countries.
He obtained his experience from different positions he occupied since the start of his career in both the private and public sectors. He served as legal counsel in national and multinational law firms, then moved to the public sector. In the public sector, he served as the Legal Counsel of the Jordanian WTO Unit, and was the founding Director of the National Production Protection, the competent authority in Jordan investigating antidumping, countervailing, and safeguards cases. During his seven years as Director, he investigated and adjudicated numerous trade remedy proceedings and represented the Government of Jordan in dispute resolution negotiations with WTO member countries. Baha'a managed the directorate for 7 years, adjudicating numerous trade remedies actions. Upon moving back to the private sector in 2007, Baha'a established Armouti & Associates, where he has represented industrial and trading companies in trade remedy and competition cases in Jordan and the region, and has provided corporate services to national and multinational companies. He also reviewed trade remedy policies and legislation for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Saudi Arabia and was involved in drafting legislation for different governmental institutions in Jordan and the region. Baha'a earned his LL.B from the University of Jordan, and his LL.M in commercial law from the University of Aberdeen. He is an advanced lecturer and trainer on WTO, trade remedies, and competition law, and has numerous publications in these fields. |
